Code of Conduct
Our goal as organizers of the Northern California Geobiology Symposium is to create a safe and inclusive environment where scientists at all stages of their career can engage in civil discussions, regardless of their own or another's identities.
We ask all the attendees to abide by the following code of conduct throughout the symposium:
- Attendees will abide by COVID protocols at all times
- Attendees will communicate politely and treat each participant with respect
- Attendees will notify the meeting organizers if they notice someone in distress or notice occurrence of a potentially dangerous situation
- While critiquing each other's work, attendees will engage in civil discussions and avoid referencing a presenter’s gender, sexual orientation, race, color, or country of origin
Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Sexual and mental harassment or intimidation
- Discrimination of any kind
- Physical or verbal abuse
- Physical and verbal threats of professional and financial harm
Anyone who is found to break the code of conduct at any time during the symposium will be immediately asked to leave. Please report prohibited behaviors to the meeting organizers.
The above of conduct was drafted using the Paleontological Society Code of Conduct and past Southern California and Northeast Geobiology symposiums.
